The devastation caused significant damage to homes and disrupted the livelihoods of the local community. Among the most affected was Pangapasan Island, where the fishing sector suffered greatly. Many fishing boats were severely damaged by storm surges andstrong winds, leaving the community struggling to recover.
Fishing serves as the primary source of income for numerous families in the island barangay. The impact of Typhoon Tino was particularly severe for the residents of Barangay Pangapasan. Many individuals faced substantial challenges and lacked the resources needed to repair their fishing boats, an essential tool for their livelihoods. As a result, the community struggled to maintain its daily routines and ensure food security for its families.
Every family in Barangay Pangapasan was affected by Typhoon Tino, underscoring the disaster’s widespread impact. According to the barangay captain, 10 families suffered the greatest damage from the typhoon. These families experienced the most severe consequences, marking them as the most affected among all residents in the community.
