Making Youth Spaces Conducive

The Gratitude Fund supports Ilog Kinderhome in renovating its youth space that serves as a venue for workshops, trainings, and celebrations for children and youth.

Early  in year 1990’s , Ilog Private Academy  donated  to Ilog Kinderhome Foundation Inc (IKFI) its old building. Repairs were made using donated materials and volunteer labor so that IKFI can use it as a  youth center  for the community .   Ilog is a poor municipality with very limited  recreational and  learning  facilities for young people, thus, the centre has  become a favorite choice for children and youth to gather together, learn, and have fun.  It hosted  regular  education sessions on adolescent sexuality and reproductive health and counseling and other worthwhile activities  facilitated by trained peer educators.   Books and play equipment were made available for children and youth as well.   Playground equipment were also installed for community children.

The building suffers from poor maintenance. Several typhoons and floods damaged the center and surrounding premises. To make it more welcoming and conducive for children and youth activities, necessary repairs and   improvement are needed. TGF supported this initiative.
