In an era where the voices of the youth often echo in the void, Revive: Praise Jam 2024 emerged as a beacon of hope and faith. This event, inspired by the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus, sought to journey with young people and help create a future brimming with meaningful possibilities.
It exemplifies Jesuits’ commitment to accompany the youth, and to recognize the importance of their insights and experiences, as emphasized in the 2018 Synod on Youth and Vocational Discernment.
The challenge, however, was real. The dwindling participation of young people in religious activities is a pressing concern, especially in the Philippines. In Xavier Ateneo alone, only three (3) of the eleven (11) pre-pandemic religious organizations have survived. Yet, amidst this decline, the dream to unite the youth remains steadfast.
The Gratitude Fund Ph supported Revive: Praise Jam 2024 a praise event that attracted nearly a thousand young people from across Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental. This achievement is particularly remarkable given its humble beginnings, which saw fewer than a hundred attendees over the past decade. On November 29, 2024, the Xavier Ateneo Soccer Field came alive with excitement as young voices harmonized in song and prayer, and created a vibrant symphony of hope and faith.
