Cultivating robust support systems in schools

The Gratitude Fund supports Sidlak Gabay in its efforts to build a strong network of support to help improve the socio-emotional and literacy skills of guardians and learners by capacitating and empowering a network of volunteers.

Sidlak Gabay is a school-based initiative that aims to strengthen the capacity of parent-, teacher-, and student volunteers to support the learning and well-being of students, especially those experiencing difficulties in reading and maths.

The project aims to train 25 “gabays” (guardians or parents), 30 teachers, and 15 “bayanis” (students) in Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Mental Health Awareness as well as basic literacy and teaching skills. Gabays and bayanis, in partnership with the teachers, are then provided with opportunities to help other students in identified challenging learning areas.
